TESTIMONIALS
"The seminar that we held at La Buena Vida Alpacas featuring Dr. Steve Hull was an outstanding success and attendees returned to their ranches with a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience. Without reservation all acknowledged that the weekend was worth their investment of time and money." Bruce Beatty
“I would not have two healthy crias walking around my pasture today if I hadn’t had Steve’s information.” Janice Robinson, member A-OK and AOBA national fiber committee chair.
“I might still be bottle feeding goat’s milk if I hadn’t heard from Dr. Hull. I have a great cria and no 6 month every three hour feeding schedule. Mama’s ok and cria’s ok, thanks to Steve’s pointers.” Bob Erickson, Treasurer -Alpacas of Oklahoma.
Here are a few of the many money-saving farm management topics that will be covered: - Provide a stress-free birthing experience for mom and cria - Provide action steps when mom has no milk or cria is too weak to nurse - How to see and correct big potential problems before they cost big $$$ - When to call the vet or “load and go” - What to say to your vet for maximum immediate communication
Dr Steve Hull grew up on a small New England farm and rediscovered livestock (alpacas) in the mid 1990s. Together with his veterinarianbusiness partner (Tom Cameron, DVM) spouses and families, they started asmall suri farm on a wooded lot in Edmond, Oklahoma (TimberLake Farms, Inc).
At the time, Steve was a professor at the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine, where he taught and researched neurocardiology, but within just a few years, Steve took early retirement to be the farm full time
pooper scooper.
Steve soon assisted national education and served as AOBA’s first Education Committee chair (2000) and then ran for AOBA’s board. He
served two terms as AOBA secretary and later as vice president. He also
served on the Alpaca Registry committees and was responsible for
recommending the use of FTA cards instead of whole blood for registering
crias.
Education is Steve’s passion. He has given seminars at literally hundreds of alpaca events both here in the USA and internationally. He uses humor, (mostly directed at himself, but best at his business partner!), as well as pointing out the subtle mistakes that most people miss.
He now resides on a 40 acre farm where he jokes that PhD stands for “posthole digger” and the “small” suri farm is now the largest in Oklahoma. Steve also does private “on farm” as well as telephone consults.
