On the weekend of September 30-October 1, 2006:

Aspen Ridge Alpacas is proud to host Deb Hill, Cloud Dancer Alpacas, who will be presenting several classes over the weekend for the small alpaca breeder. If you currently own alpacas or are considering venturing into the business of alpacas, don’t miss this opportunity. Not only will you be getting expert advice and helpful handouts, but you will have time to ask questions and share your own experiences.

“How to Build a Successful Alpaca Business” with Deb Hill, Cloud Dance Alpacas

This two-day seminar is tailored to the needs of the small alpaca farm.

Deb Hill has been raising alpacas in northern Arizona since 1966. With her husband Don Sanfilippo, she runs a successful alpaca operation using experience gained from farm life and decades in small business management. The result is a profitable venture based on a small herd of 12-15 alpacas. Deb is a contributor to Alpacas Magazine, a teacher nationwide, chair of the AOBA Education Committee, and a member of the Development Committee for the Alpaca Research Foundation.

Deb says, “The challenge is to stay small and still make a reasonable income. Our business is a nice model of success for the smaller farms.”

April 17 & 18, 2004: Felt with Karen Kinyon

Experience the Enchantment of Alpaca Fiber on your FEET and HEAD!

You will complete a hand-felted hat and a pair of slippers. Both are great fun, but in the slipper class you work with partners and slippers are shaped to your feet, so everyone gets a warm foot massage. This workshop will fill up in a hurry, so respond as soon as you can to reserve your spot.

Join us at Aspen Ridge Alpacas near Jemez Springs, New Mexico, on April 17 & 18, 2004, for a weekend working with felting alpaca fiber. Karen Kinyon will share her expertise in felting with alpaca fiber.

Cost is $140 per person or $250 for a couple and includes all materials and supplies to make an alpaca felt hat and a pair of felted alpaca slippers. We will begin with the hat class on Saturday morning and end the day with the slippers. On Sunday morning the class will learn finishing techniques on the hats and slippers. Karen will then have some time for needle felting for those who wish to stay longer.

Participants need to bring a large bath towel and rubber gloves.
